Third Lollygagger Art Festival

The Lollygagger Lane sim has been around for a while. It is one of those places that feels a bit like “old SL,” but in a really good way. I like this place for several reasons, one of them being that they have a small gallery, Lollygagger Art Center, where artists like Piedra Lubitsch, Kake Broek, and other talented not so main-stream artists have shown their work. There is also a strong fundraising tradition here, which I applaud, and I have covered some of the events, the latest one here. All of this is spearheaded by the seemingly never-tiring curator and organizer Chrissssy. Her latest project, the third Lollygagger Art Festival, which opened on May 21, 2016, is a fundraiser in support of Relay for Life. Works by Rob Barber, Kake Broek, Pepper Chaffe, Sparkie Cyberstar, Ziki Questi, Fae Varriale, Fanny Vermont, and Kandece Weissbrod (some of these works are for sale, some are not), are distributed all over the sim (follow yellow arrows on ground). Relay for Life donation kiosk are available for donations. Head over and take a look, this even will be open for another two months or so.  And thanks to Chrissssy for all you do! 🙂

Syrian Refugee Crisis Fundraiser by Lollygagger

Syrian Refuge Crisis Fundraiser

The Syrian refugee crisis, one of the most horrible events in human history, is not getting enough attention. I applaud the Lollygagger event organizers for putting together a fundraiser in support of this tragic crisis. One of Lollygagger’s main charity events, this three-day The Slumrock 2015 Festival at Lollygagger Lane fundraiser will run from December 18 to December 20, 2015, starting at 12PM SLT and ending at 8PM SLT each day. There will of course be many different bands and I’ve been told one of the groups performing is Engrama. Head over on one or all of the days and offer your support. I know I will.

MoVember Exhibition

Movember 2015

Today, Sunday, November 15, between 2 and 3 PM SLT, is the opening of the MoVember 2015 exhibit at the Club LA Gallery. This event is organized by my friend DaisyDaze (aka daze) and Fuyko Amanto and I blogged about it a few weeks ago here. MoVember is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as depression in men, prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities, spearheaded in Second Life for the second year in a row by daze. Lot’s of fun images on display, head over and take a look!

MoVember 2015

This is my third and absolute last post for today! Just wanted to make you aware of the Flickr event MoVember 2015 organized by my friend daze that is going on right now. The event was held last year too and I submitted a photo then and had a lot of fun putting it together just as did I this year. MoVember is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as depression in men, prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities. The MoVember Foundation runs the MoVember charity event, housed at The goal of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health.” Help spread awareness and join the MoVember Flickr group and submit a photograph of yourself wearing a beard or a mustache.

Help People in Nepal

I just saw this post on Inara Pey’s blog and I am reblogging it here. Efforts are being made in Second Life to assist victims of the earthquake in Nepal starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 when the Fashion for Food fashion event is launched. Check out Inara’s post for more information and donate directly via the UN World Food Programme (WFP).

Join Hands: raising money to help the WFP's aid work in earthquake-struck Nepal Join Hands: raising money to help the WFP’s aid work in earthquake-struck Nepal with Fashion for Food

Valsnia and Ruby Ornamental, two Second Life residents and bloggers, have recently formed Join Hands, a virtual group they would like to see  “make a difference to the real world we live in. Not dedicated to a single mission but the spirit of Humanity.” As the inaugural activity for Join Hands, they are organising a four-day fund-raiser in support of the people of Nepal following the devastating earthquake of April 25th.

Fashion for Food SL is aimed at raising money which can be put towards the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP), which is focusing its efforts on bringing assistance and relief to the outlying regions of Nepal, allowing the government there to co-ordinate efforts along the Kathmandu Valley. The WFP  estimating US $116.5 million is required to provide food for 1.4 million people…

Support Education for Girls in Sierra Leone

junebug_002Fellow blogger Strawberry Singh shared a post today about the admirable efforts of Juno Mantel (Junbug), who is raising funds to support education of girls in Sierra Leone. Head over to the Junbug store and purchase the vintage school girl dress that Juno specially created for this event (100% of sales are donated)  or donate funds on the website, Do It In a Dress Campaign, directly. This campaign ends on December 7.  You can also post photos of yourself in the dress in Do It In a Dress With Junbug Flickr Group. I took the photo above on Nordan om Jorden.

Cirque de Seraphim

The circus themed fundraising event Cirque de Seraphim started today and will go on until November 26. This is a wonderful two-sim occurrence where 50% of proceeds go directly to ASPCA. The devotion and generosity of both organizers and designers of this event should be applauded. It is a great use of creativity in Second Life© to benefit animals in need. Head over to get some great stuff or find one of several ASPCA donation kiosks and donate directly, here are the slurls: Sim 1, Sim 2

Shoe Extravaganza

The Second Life© shoe fair ShoeTopia 2013 opened it’s doors November 15 and it will continue until November 30, 2013 (main landing points are ShoeTopia 1 and ShoeTopia 2). I tried teleporting in for several days, with little success since the region was full. This much anticipated event is quite significant for several reasons, one being that it supports a great cause, Soles4Souls. And there is of course great footwear to be had; more than 40 shoe designers have their shoes on display! I will pick three pairs of shoes I like the best and show them here (it will be very hard to choose, I am acutely aware). Last but not least, the talented Rebeca Bashly has provided the build for this event. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is one of the most beautiful and well-thought out exhibit spaces I have seen in the virtual world to date.

After much internal torment and tumult, I finally decided on the best shoes (in my humble opinion) in three different categories to share with you here; the best wedges, best sandals and best boots. My favorite wedge is the mesh pump Adele by *GF* (it comes in a myriad of brilliant colors). I love the shape, the exquisite bow and the clear yellow color of this shoe! I think it can be worn equally well with a skirt or jeans. Here I am wearing it with the Milena ruffle blouse (Sunny) from Tee*fy and the Pencil Skirt Length Two (Black) by Maitreya. The skin is Sash (*peche*) by Essences and hair is Mayumi 3 (Citrine) by D!va. The photo was taken at The Chapter Four.

I just adore the black Isabelle Patent Sandal by [Gos] (as always, all [Gos] footwear come with the convenient skin matching HUD). I am wearing the sandals with a rather casual dress here, but I am convinced they would look stunning with a formal evening gown as well. The lovely Ruffle Dress (Black) is by ISON. The skin I am wearing is Summer (America) by Glam Affair and the hair is Ana (Citrine) by D!va. Earrings are Jade (Egg Shell) by Paper Couture. Pose by Del May. The photo was shot at Tudor Rose.

Finally, my favorite boots are the very casual Hugg Boots (Snow) by Apple Fall. These boots are mellow and playful, perfect for cold and snowy weather (or for hanging out with a bunch of ignorant polar bears). With these boots I am wearing the Worn Out Baseball Shirt – Dreaming by Nylon Outfitters, Tights Pinched (Coal) by Maitreya and an Oversized Cardigan (Milk) by =Zenith=. Skin is Aime (*peche*) by Essences and hair is Beaumont (Winter) by ~Tableau Vivant ~. Pose by Del May. This photo was taken on the sim Holiday Village.
