The UWA 3D Art and Machinima Pursue Impossible Grand Finale 2015 will take place this Sunday, December 13 at 6 AM SLT at The UWA-BOSL Grand Amphitheatre. 59 works of art and 45 machinima have been entered and are in the running for prizes exceeding L$500,000. Check out The University of Western Australia website for complete listings of art works and machinima. The machinima will be running continuously at the theatre, starting 24 hours before the opening of the actual event. People are encouraged to arrive early as this challenge fills up quickly.
I was all by my lonesome self earlier today as I headed over to the amphitheater to take the photos for this post. Not one avatar in sight, no lag and no crashing. I know this place will be bursting at the seams on Sunday and things will be very different then. I remember having gone to most of these events in the past, several years in a row, always excited to part-take in what has historically (since 2009) been the largest 3D and machinima competition in Second Life. Sadly, this will be the last year of the UWA challenge (the UWA art events will thankfully continue, spearheaded by FreeWee Ling). Many thanks to Jayjay Zifanwe, FreeWee Ling and others who have organized these remarkable events over the years. They will be sorely missed.
